We Leak

It's true - we leak. We go to bed feeling pretty good about life, and we wake up feeling like the weight of the world is on us. We hear a song that warms our heart and minutes later we are cussing out the driver of the car that pulled out in front of us. Sunday we make up our mind to turn over a new leaf and Thursday we are struggling with the same old failure.
We leak, but why? It is not because we don’t try hard enough. It is not because we are not sincere. It is not because we don’t have the willpower. It is not because we are bad. And no, God is not mad at you. So why? Why is it so easy to feel bad, and so difficult to maintain the good? Why?

The short answer is “we leak”.

Jesus spoke a little parable:

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins;
if he does,
the wine will burst the skins,
and the wine is lost,
and so are the skins;
but new wine is for fresh skins."

Like new wine, new life will produce new energy. New wine is worthy of new bottles. New wine demands new bottles. New life is worthy of a new dwelling place. New life cannot dwell in an old lifestyle. The energy produced out of a new life cannot be contained in an old worthless lifestyle. The new life demands a worthy lifestyle. Otherwise, you will leak.

Don’t be a leaker, be a seeker!

The really good news for all of us leakers is that the mercy of Father God is new every morning! No matter how we leaked yesterday, today, if we ask, he will fill us again! And, if we ask, he will clothe us so that we can contain his life!

Courtney,

You know that this is true. You have been living the new life. You have also been enjoying the fruits of the new life. The new life is better than the old life.

I am so proud of you! Keep the goals of new life in mind as you begin your new classes! You can do this. You will do this.

I love you.

Dad.
